The Philosophy
Although the rate of change in so many different areas of our lives has become so rapid that it’s impossible to keep up, our collective response to this amounts to wilful ignorance, for the sake of continuing business as usual.
Despite living in such tumultuous times, where every individual is obligated to deliver only their best in whatever way they see fit, our general collective attitude is one of ignorance and hubris. With the magnitude of change occurring all around us, this attitude ensures we remain on a self-terminating trajectory.
In so many different fields, disciplines, and areas of research there is a stagnation. An inhibition of further advancement and progress. Who’s to say what’s causing this broad restraint across so many different domains? For now, let’s refer to the causes of such stagnation as “legacy mechanisms”. Mechanisms that inhibit further progress in certain domains as that progress would threaten the continued existence of legacy pursuits, from which certain people profit. This well-worn path of legacy pursuits is the self-terminating trajectory alluded to above. The gains accrued by those who have a vested interest in continuing down this well-worn path are short-term, and come at the expense of long-term sustainability.
In the long-run, if the action of these inhibitory legacy mechanisms is permitted to continue, everyone loses.
What Can We Do About This?
In some sense, we are obliged as individuals who happen to have been born in such tumultuous times to open our eyes and see the reality of our situation for what it really is. We have to become radically honest about our situation, and contribute as best we can to its clarification.
See this as an ultimate opportunity to pursue a life that you deem worth living. Permission from the world to follow the quiet whisperings of that inner guiding voice.
